Chipu head coach Paul Odera is expected to name the squad to face Japan in their third match of the World Rugby Under-20 Trophy championship in Sao Jose did Campos, Brazil Tuesday evening.

Kenya has four injury concerns which include Andrew Siminyu (Hillcrest School, South Africa), Michele Brighetti (Sedbergh), Jeff Mutuku and Douglas Kahuri both from Kenya Harlequins.

During a conversation with Citizen Digital, Odera who is also the Simba’s head coach said that they are waiting for a late medical assessment for each of the players before they make a decision.

He added that the availability or absence of the injured players will help them determine their tactics.

The former Simba player says after watching Japan’s games they’ll have to close them down early and fast.

Chipu won their first match in the tourney over the weekend narrowly beating host Brazil 26-24.

“The mood in the camp has been lifted significantly and the belief in each other and the systems has returned, so the win is a definite plus,” he said.

Japan top their pool after defeating 2008 champions 46-31 while Kenya lost their opener 63-11 against Uruguay.

The match against Japan will be played on Wednesday from 11 pm (EAT).
