Odhiambo hopeful Bandari will shine after COVID-19

Newly appointed Bandari FC coach Ken Odhiambo is already planning on how sustain the mojo instilled by veteran tactician Twahir Muhiddin, in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side before handing over to him this month.

The coach, who is now the permanent replacement of Bernard Mwalala is hopeful the COVID-19 storm will weather down, and the 2019/20 season continue as it were.

Speaking for the first time since returning at the helm of the team, Odhiambo revealed his agenda will be finishing among the top four teams in the KPL in the current campaign.

“The season is at very advanced stage so it would quite ambitious to talk of the title. My big assignment now is just to help the club finish in a better position and start prepare for next season,” a delightful Odhiambo told.

He started training the team some matches before the league was stopped following the COVID-19 outbreak, even before the official unveiling.

“There are some things we have started to fix in the team already, and it was evident in our last matches before the league was stopped. Those areas will be key in steering us up before the end of the season,” observed Odhiambo.

On the FKF Cup which Bandari holds, the former Harambee stars assistant coach noted they are confident the FKF Competitions Committee will rule fairly in the case of the skipped match against Sofapaka FC.

Bandari were set to host Sofapaka in the round of 16 of the Cup, but a myriad of issues led to the cancellation of the match despite the latter travelling all the way to Mombasa for the clash.

Initially, Bandari and Sofapaka differed in the kickoff time before the former said the match could not be played on the grounds of the COVID-19 precaution measures.

“We will wait for the FKF decision then we can plan for it,” observed Odhiambo.

Bandari, who have in the past two seasons finished as league runners up have struggled to build on the success in the current campaign, now being ranked ninth with 32 points from 23 matches.
