Odhiambo ready for new role as Sofapaka face Tusker test

New Sofapaka head coach Ken Odhiambo is optimistic he will start his new role with a win as he prepares to lead the Batoto ba Mungu against Tusker FC at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

The Harambee Stars assistant coach who recently joined Batoto ba Mungu from Bandari says he is getting acquainted to his new environment and the Tusker game will be a good test for him.

“I will be looking for my first game as a test to gauge my new squad because I have not spent a lot of time with them,” explained Odhiambo.

He added: “A win in my first game of course will be a boost going forward having in mind they (Sofapaka) have not won in their last two games.”

Sofapaka have only won one game, losing three of their fixtures forcing them to fire John Baraza as head coach.

Elsewhere Bandari FC Technical director Twahir Muhiddin says they are trying to instill the player’s confidence  terming it as the reason behind throwing away open chances in their previous matches.

Bandari will be up against Western Stima on Sunday at Mbaraki Sports Club.

“Lack of confidence in finishing is our only problem so far but we know our boys will rectify it in our next game,” explained the soft-spoken Muhiddin.

Other matches will see Kakamega Homeboyz take on Nzoia Sugar at Bukhungu Stadium,  Kariobangi Sharks battle Ulinzi Stars as Vihiga United welcome Bidco United at the Mumias Sports Complex.
