Ogweno appointed interim Gor assistant boss

SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor Mahia have appointed Tom Ogweno as the interim club’s assistant coach.

Ogweno, who was the team’s fitness trainer, takes over from Frank Ouna who stepped down after leading the titleholders to a 2-2 draw with City Stars in their last outing.

“We have elevated Ogweno to the position of the assistant coach for the time being as we look for a permanent choice.

“He has been with the team for some time, understands the players well and we know he can perform as an assistant. We have not officially appointed him as an assistant coach but he will serve in that capacity for now,” club Secretary Ronald Ngala said.

His appointment comes a few days after the club officially unveiled their new head coach Jose Marcelo Fereira a Brazilian tactician whom arrived at the SPL champions after immediate former head coach Frank Nutall quit.

K’Ogalo also declared plans for the unveiling Crown Beverages Limited as a second sponsor are still on course.

“We have to thank Crown for coming on board. Their sponsorship will very helpful to the club in different fronts and this should not deter others from coming on board. We would welcome more sponsorship to the club,” Ngala remarked.

Gor remain winless in the five games they have played so far in a stuttering start to the season.
