Oilers face stern test in fired-up Bulls

Championship side Menengai Oilers will face their toughest test of the season when they face former Kenya Cup side Western Bulls this weekend.

The two teams which will be battling it out for Kenya Cup promotion in April are leading the 12 team log in first and second place slots respectively.

Oilers are unbeaten in 23 games they have played at the 15-a-side level and from the look of things; Western Bulls and Mean Machine are the only teams giving Oilers a run for their money.

Oilers have attracted praise within the rugby circles thanks to their sleek style of play characterized by swift passing and impeccable ball handling with the trio of Samuel Muregi, Anduvate Harold and Dan Abuonji key components in the side.

The battle against Bulls will be arguably the match of the day with five other games on the card across the country in the championship category.

Former Kenya Cup sides Catholic Monks and USIU battle each other at the Catholic University with both teams in need of a win to cement their chances of getting back in the top flight.

Campus boys, Mean Machine, who survived relegation to the nationwide league will make a short trip to Juja, where they’ll battle it out with JKUAT Cougars.

Kisumu RFC, another former top-flight team will play host to Moi University at the Mamboleo Showground, Kisumu as they look to add on the five points accumulated after three rounds.

The top two teams in the championship league will automatically qualify for a spot in the Kenya Cup 2018/2019 season.
