Police FC sharpshooter Tito Okello has kept his cards close to his chest regarding the golden boot race despite netting twice over the weekend against Sofapaka FC.

The South Sudanese striker converted two contentious penalties to level with the current league top scorer Benson Omalla at 12 goals in the goal-scoring chart.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, the 26-year-old remained unapologetic about his goal-scoring prowess.

"It's been a lengthy chase. I began the season poorly with just three goals in the first round while he (Omalla) had nine, but now we're on level terms. It's all about determination and hard work," remarked Okello.

When asked if his excellent form could propel him ahead of Omalla to become the season's top marksman, Okello opted to leave it to fate.

"I'm still in the race, but clinching the golden boot isn't a walk in the park since he's also scoring consistently. Yet, if it's God's will, he'll take it. It's all in God's hands, but we're both striving for it, so anything can happen," he concluded.

The former Gor Mahia forward also assessed his sides recent fine form in the league which has propelled them to second, reiterating the importance of winning the remaining games fixtures.

"We have seven games left to play, and we're still aiming for the trophy. If we win the remaining matches, then I think we'll be in a good position," he added.
