Okoth wary of Kipkiruis threat to the Zoo as Gor come calling

Zoo Kericho head coach Sammy Okoth says his former striker Nicholas Kipkirui pose a threat to his side when the two sides lock horns this afternoon at the Green Stadium in Kericho.

Gor will be aiming to move to 35 points and Okoth  is predicting a tough match.

“We so much respect Gor Mahia. They are on form due to the continental matches they are playing and I can say this match will be tricky for us.”

Okoth noted that his former striker Nicholas Kipkurui is a big threat since he is conversant with the pitch and his former team mates but is proud to have produced a player who now plays at the continental level.

The tactician said his side is not well off since they did not recruit during the last transfer window despite releasing dependable players.

While admitting that his team is in poor form, Okoth said he does not see the club recruiting high profile players in the next transfer window due to financial constraints, ruling out bringing new talents even in the mini-transfer window, – currently open.

‘’I will look into my weak areas for possible replacements but we can only recruit from the grassroots in the next transfer window since we don’t have money,” explained Okoth.

He added that all the players released at the beginning of the season left a big gap that will be difficult to fill since they were played a great role in the team.

A win for Gor Mahia this afternoon can haul them to the top of the log depending on the outcome of two other matches involving Sofapaka and Bandari who are currently commanding the log at first and second positions respectively.

KÓgalo are third at 32 points from 15 matches with Batoto ba Mungu are atop the standings on 33 points from 18 outings.

Zoo are third from the bottom of the 18 team log from 3 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses and Okoth though worried insists there is still time to fight off the relegation threats.
