Olago not pleased with weekend display despite win

KCB head coach Curtis Olago believes that his charges didn’t play according to their plan despite winning 27-12 against Top fry Nakuru in weekend’s Kenya Cup action.

In interview with Citizen Digital, Olago said that they never expected the game to be difficult because they had a set mentality of winning.

“They really came hard and we really had to dig deep, our game plan never went as we wanted, so we hard to fall to simpler methods of playing, and I think that is what gave us the victory,” said Curtis.

Olago disputed claims that his current squad is weaker than the team that won last season.

“I think that every time the season starts you always have to try out your combinations; the season is a bit long, we have a couple of games to come so I think we are just going the route of trying out different combinations before we reach the preliminaries. We will have a stronger squad than the one we started with,” the tactician explained. “In our first two tries we used our new plan and it’s just a matter of trying new things to get victories.

At the same time, Olago is tipping newly promoted teams to do better, picking Kisii RFC as a prime example.

“Kenya Cup being a top-tier competition, they will need time to adjust to the level of play if they are to survive.

The defending champions lead the log with 20 points, followed closely with Homeboyz, who have equal points, while Kabras Sugar  are third on 19 points.
