Olympic qualifiers to determine squad for Morocco Games, says Ramdoo

Malkia Strikers head coach Shailen Ramdoo has affirmed that he might make a few changes to his squad that will be heading to Morocco for the All African Games scheduled for August.

The coach who led the women’s volleyball team to a runner up place in the African Nations Championship held in Cairo, Egypt has made Olympic qualifiers the top priority at the moment before shifting gears to the All Africa games.

The Strikers will be leaving for Italy on July 31 for the qualifiers after losing to Cameroon 3-1 in the final of the African Cup of Nations Championship.

According to Ramdoo, the qualifiers which takes place from August 2 to 4, and which will see them take on World championships runners up Italy, Netherlands and Belgium will determine the final squad that will represent Kenya in Morocco.

After the action the team is set to jet directly to Morocco to defend their 2015 All African Games title from August 16 -30.

Ramdoo said: “Everyone is available and it will be easier for us to choose players. We will be giving chances to younger players to play the qualifiers and through this we will be able to generate a squad that will play the All Africa Games.”

The Strikers under the guidance of Ramdoo , Japheth Munala and David Lung’aho are currently training at the Kasarani Indoor Arena after experiencing some difficulties in getting training venue.

“We are going to prepare for the qualifiers in Italy, we don’t want to go and learn from them, so we will just play our game,” he told Citizen Digital.
