Ombachi back as Coach Simiyu names Shujaa squad

Dennis Ombachi and Willy Ambaka have been included by head coach Innocent Simiyu in the national team’s squad for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens opener in Dubai.

Simiyu named a 12 man squad that will take part in the first two rounds of the global circuit with the duo making a comeback after long spells of injury layoff and personal related issues.

The duo will add experience and strength in the forward unit and will be helped by Kabras Sugar Dan Sikuta and Kenya Harlequins Frank Wanyama.

Menengai Homeboyz Centre Oscar Ayodi will Captain the Shujaa in the absence of Andrew Amonde who is out injured.

Sensation Collins Injera also makes a comeback to the series with 244 tries on his name and the winger is positive everything will go on well as planned by the technical bench.

Jeff Oluoch and Eden Agero will be joined by their teammate Herman Humwa who will debut for Shujaa in the Dubai circuit.

Other key members included in the squad are Impala Saracens Centre Sammy Oliech, the small but mighty Brian Tanga of Kabras Sugar and Top Fry Nakuru Speed star Nelson Oyoo.

However there is no space for Top Fry Nakuru powerhouse Oscar “Big wheels” Ouma and seasonal duo debutants Samuel Muregi and Harun Anduvate.

Kenya are in a tricky encounter against neighbours Uganda, Africa Champions South Africa and surprise season package Canada who have proven to be a thorn in the flesh in the Shujaa defence.

This season kicks off at the Dubai Sevens on the 1st and 2nd of December then head to South Africa in the Cape Town Sevens on the8th and 9th of December 2017.
