Omino credits All-Stars first KPL win to player contracts

Kisumu All Stars head coach Henry Omino has credited the county government of Kisumu for motivating his boys leading to their first win of the season in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) over the weekend.

After a long wait stretching from July, All-Stars players were eventually given new six months contracts with the county government and Omino is confident that his boys will now fly high.

The Blue Eagles piped Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 at the weekend – their first victory of the campaign to jump to position 16 on 6 points after nine matches drawing 3 and losing 5.

“Definitely, to get new contracts motivates a lot and the boys now understand that they are owned by the county government,” he said. “We have waited for the letters since July this year and the signing of the contract will immensely motivate the boys to perform going forward,”the former Western Stima head coach said.

“After this win, when we come back from the international break, we will face Wazito FC which is also a strong team but the confidence instilled in the team will back up my boys. This is only but the beginning and so we want to warn them (Wazito) to come expecting a different side,” Omino charged.

On the other hand, Sharks player Samuel Olwande maintains the importance of keeping focus in their next fixture against military men Ulinzi Stars on Nov 21 at MISC Kasarani.

“We only want a win in our next match and I believe we will have a better performance than this,” Olwande said.

Kariobangi Sharks are in 15th position with only seven points after nine matches after registering a disappointing one win, four draws and losses respectively.
