Omollo impressed by Gor Mahia performance
- Gor have conceded once against Sofapaka since the resumption of the league and Pamzo attributes this to discipline and hard work that is being put in by the players and the technical bench during practices.
Gor Mahia assistant coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo is impressed by his team’s defensive display in the recent games in the Kenyan Premier League.
Gor have conceded once against Sofapaka since the resumption of the league and Pamzo attributes this to discipline and hard work that is being put in by the players and the technical bench during practices.
“The boys have shown maturity in the recent games they have good communication on the pitch with the ball and without the ball – they connect well with our midfielders and that’s something very positive,” said Omollo
Despite missing numerous chances in the last game against Wazito, Omollo has praise strikers Tito Okello work rate and said it was just one of the bad days in office he however complements Jules Ulimwengu for the options that he brings in the teams attack line. Ulimwengu came on as a substitute and scored the lone goal.
“He (Tito) is a gifted player…. It was one of those bad days in office for him but we all know how many crucial goals he has scored for us in this campaign and we believe he will score more in the coming games.
Ulimwengu is a top-class finisher he offers us more options in our attack – we know he will be very crucial in the remaining games,” added Omollo
The veteran tactician said the race to be at the top of the league by June 30 for a chance to represent the country in next season’s CAF Champions League is an extra motivation for the defending champions to get the recent good results that have moved them from seventh place to fourth in the league standing.
“It’s every player and coach dream to compete in continental football… the set deadline offer more competition to be at the top of the table by then and for us, its more motivation to continue representing Kenya – so the fight in on,” the former Kenyan international told Citizen Digital.
Kogal will next face struggling Mathare United on June 17 when the league resumes after the Football Kenya Federation Cup.
