Philadelphia Orlando has backed the Kenya Lionesses to overcome the 2020 Olympics qualifying hurdle after she was retained as skipper by head coach Felix Oloo.

Orlando will be deputized by Sheila Chajira during this year Olympics qualifiers which will double as Africa Sevens Championship.

Speaking during the Lionesses squad unveiling Orlando applauded the whole squad for working hard during the training sessions.

“It’s a dream for every player to qualify for the Olympics. That’s why if you watch our training sessions, the players were giving it their all,” said Orlando.

Others players in the squad include: Cynthia Camila, Winger Janet Okello, half back Grace Adhiambo, Celestine Masinde, Diana Awino, Leah Wambui, Janet Owino, Vivian Akumu, Christabel Lindo and Stella Wafula.

Enid Auma was named as a non travelling reserve.

Being the defending Champions Lionesses will be searching the ticket to return to the Olympics after getting the ticket in 2016 following the withdrawal of South Africa.

They top the seeds for the 2019 Africa Women’s Sevens on the 12th and 13th of October in Jemmel, Tunisia.

Felix Oloo charges are in Pool A alongside Ghana, Botswana and Senegal

The ever charged skipper Orlando aims at returning to the Olympics saying South Africa is their biggest wary.

“Last qualifiers we finished second behind South Africa now this year we want a direct ticket and our target is South Africa. We’ve played them a couple of times since 2015 and this time round we’ll give everything. We must qualify,” pressed Orlando.
