Ouma bullish as Kenya entertain Ghana at Kasarani

Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma is optimistic of defeating Black Queens of Ghana in Tuesday’s crunch tie, an Olympic qualifier return leg when the two teams cross swords at Kasarani Stadium.

Starlets who registered a barren draw in the first leg two days ago in Accra held their final training session on Monday, October 7, 2019, ahead of the match and coach Ouma is confident that they will defeat their opponents to proceed to the fourth round.

“Our team played very well in Ghana only that we lost a couple of chances. I am very impressed by the defence, it has really improved because not conceding a goal away means a lot.

“I am urging the girls to ensure they do not concede at home, we only need to score more goals in the first half and put pressure in the second half,” explained the Harambee Starlets coach.

Ouma at the same time said they’ve learnt Ghana’s strengths and weaknesses which they’ll use to their advantage.

“Ghana played very good football, they like playing attacking game something which I will ensure my defenders will work on. I believe in each and every player, we have no serious injury issues and I am sure we will perform. I urge the fans to turn up in large numbers as we need their support tomorrow,” Ouma concluded.

FKF President, Nick Mwendwa, meanwhile, expressed optimism ahead of the game.

“Ghana is a strong team that has reached the World Cup and had never drawn with any other team so far apart from us, therefore, I feel the team is ready to play the game and give us a positive results,” said Mwendwa.

The Black Queens of Ghana arrived in Nairobi early Monday and will go into the game with the objective of winning to inch closer to qualifying for the Olympics next year.

The match kicks off at 4pm.
