Ouma to pen two-year deal as Gor sign Stimas Jobita

Harambee Stars left-back Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma will put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants, Gor Mahia, the champions confirmed after completing the signing of coveted Western Stima winger Baron Oketch Jobita.

Ouma whose future was the subject of intense speculation, will sign his new contract once he finishes duty with the national team that plays Congo Brazzaville in a 2017 Afcon qualifier on Sunday according to club secretary Ronald Ngala.

“We have already talked to Marcelo and I think we have agreed in all principles. We gave him chance to concentrate with the national team the when he is done he will sign the two year deal with the champions,” the official announced.

The 19 year-old joined Gor from Kakamega High School initially on a six-month contract that expires this month.

Ouma’s childhood manager and Leopards technical bench member, Nicholas Muyoti declined knowledge of the new deal saying only Ouma’s agents he declined to reveal would shed light on the matter.

Muyoti who was reported to have been pushing for the player to sign at the Den added remaining at Gor was the best option for the talented defender who has taken the league by storm.

“Since he went to Stars I have not talked to him to know the progress of his new deal. For now he has been given the opportunity to play for the champions so I will advise him not to switch from club to club at the moment,” Muyoti added.

According to Ngala head coach Ze Maria is targeting four more players and will also drop the same number in the June transfer window.

“According to the list which was given by the head coach, he wanted a player who will assist in central defence and Karim Nizigiyamana in the right wing. If Khalid Aucho leaves us then the coach will another player in the centre,” the secretary explained.

Oketch has joined the champions on a three-year deal that lapses in June 2019 with K’Ogalo beating off interest from KPL rivals Tusker FC and AFC Leopards to his signature.

“It’s true that Jobita has signed a three year contract and the coach needed someone who can help the team in both wings and that’s why he was chosen,

“He will assist Jacques Tuyisenge, George Odhiambo and Enock Agwanda upfront.”

He will join former Green Commandoes teammate Ouma at K’Ogalo.

At the same time, the secretary has conceded the team is struggling to balance the five foreign players’ quota in what has stalled the re-signing of crowd favourite, Meddie Kagere, who was last season’s second top scorer.

“It is giving us pressure because if we have him then we must release one player and we don’t know who to sacrifice. We are still looking at the matter. If the coach gets a complete striker, he will leave Kagere alone,” he added.
