Our aim is to win Christie title at home, Quins coach Sudi says

Kenya Harlequins RFC head coach Victor Sudi’s focus is to reduce the mistakes made in the last outings heading to the RFUEA grounds for the last leg of the circuit, the Christies Sevens this weekend.

The former Shujaa captain believes that they can win the tournament on their home ground after finishing sixth at Dala Sevens last weekend.

“We played well in Kisumu and the only thing is that we made a lot of mistakes in the two games we lost, so our focus is to reduce the mistakes, be more competitive so that we can win the main cup trophy.”

Sudi added that they’ve always challenged for the main cup trophy in their last outings adding that winning the main crown will be more significant for him and his charges as they’ll be on home soil.

But even as the stakes get higher and the dream emboldened, Sudi is adamant that he won’t make a lot of changes in the team, adding that all his players are available for selection in spite of the knocks picked up by some of them in their last assignment.

“We plan to keep the consistency and keep the squad intact and build on the performance from Dala,”he said.

The Quins remain sixth in the circuit with 36 points after playing in all the five rounds.

“Right now it’s just one tournament to the end of the circuit so for us is to play for a win, take one game at a time so as to try and finish the circuit on a high.”

At the same time Sudi believes that the invited teams will add flavour to the competition as the curtain come down this weekend.

Pretoria University together with Blue Bulls who have merged for the tourney to field one team and Emerging Uganda Sevens willbe guest teams in what is expected to be a drama filled weekend at rugby’ spiritual home – the RFUEA grounds.

“It’s exciting to see that Christies has taken the competition a notch higher giving the tournament an international flavor so I believe it will be entertaining for the fans and players who will compete against new teams which have not played in the circuit before.”

Homeboyz lead the circuit on 100 points, eight more than second placed Mwamba.

Meanwhile, the draws for Christine Sevens have been made. Dala 7s newly crowned champions  Mwamba RFC headline Pool A alongside defending champions Kabras Sugar, Mean Machine and Ugandan 2018 Champions Pirates RFC.

Pool B has circuit leaders Homeboyz RFC, Nakuru RFC, Menengai Oilers and invited side Bulls & TUK Combined.
