The top of the table clash between leaders Palos FC and second –placed GFE 105 in Kisumu on Sunday is the highlight of the National Super League (NSL) this weekend.

Palos who finished mid-table last term have made a strong start this term winning twice and drawing once in three games to take charge at the summit a point ahead of the Eldoret-based GFE who have a game in hand having won in two outings.

The early pace setters are coming off identical 2-1 victories last weekend over Wazito FC and Nairobi City Stars who were relegated from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) last season.

Palos FC Chief Executive Nicholas Ochieng is confident his team will not let the NSL lead slip after inflicting a first defeat on the resurgent Wazito as he looks forward to a tough game between unbeaten sides.

“The team is currently in top gear. We have no injuries at all and we have 30 players to choose from and they are in a good state.

“Fielding the first 18 of the team is a quite a task to us because we are having one of the best ever squads,” he added.

Ochieng added their aim was to seal promotion to the KPL next season and the team was encouraged by the fast start to their campaign.

GFE 105 Head Coach Joshua Obara is targeting to complete the double over Palos like they did in 2015 starting with victory on their trip to Kisumu.

“We have our strengths and we know their weaknesses. We are prepared and we don’t fear anything because I have talented players who are technically and tactically gifted,” Obara charged.

Obara will be missing two players in his line-up to face players due to injury and bereavement for the match that kicks off at 2pm.

Third-placed Ushuru FC (six) who are hoping for a swift return to the KPL after going down on the final day of the 2016 take on Nairobi Stima who are two points adrift in eighth hoping for a third win on the bounce.
