Pamzo predicts tough clash against Sofapaka

Gor Mahia assistant coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo is predicting a tough Premier League clash against Sofapaka on Sunday, saying their recent win over the 2009 champions in Wundanyi does not guarantee an automatic win for K’Ogalo.

Pamzo says his charges will need to be more aggressive on ‘Batoto ba Mungu’ who held their eternal rivals AFC Leopards to a 2-2 on Wednesday, if they are to complete a season double over them.

‘’It will not be an automatic win for us despite beating them away recently. But if our boys stick to our instructions, then the possibility of garnering maximum points is high,’’ said Pamzo.

Gor Mahia is on a six-match winning run in the top-tier League and currently sit fourth behind leaders KCK, Tusker, and AFC Leopards but with a game at hand.

Meanwhile Pamzo has indicated that they are under no pressure to climb to the helm of the log.

He admitted that the competition to the sole CAF Champions League slot for Kenya is high saying they are targeting maximum points from the top three teams at the moment, to ease their way to the summit gradually.

‘’The Competition is too high and you know teams like KCB, Tusker and Leopards are also jostling for the CAF Champions League slot. But if we can collect maximum points from the three teams, then we should be good to go.’’

Only Tito Okello is unavailable for the Sofapaka clash, having travelled to his home country South Sudan as revealed by Pamzo, who however expects him back “soon.”

Gor will also face AFC Leopards in the FKF Cup finals on July 4, a derby Pamzo is already looking forward to.

‘’We are preparing for our traditional arch-rivals. They have not beaten us since 2016 and we would like to extend the norm. Beating them to the FKF Cup will be a big achievement to us,’’ added Pamzo.

Gor has been the most consistent team since the restart of the Premier League and the FKF Cup after the March Covid-19 break, winning all the matches hence their quick rise to the top-four teams in the league.AM
