Parklands out to bounce back against Parkroad Tigers

Parklands Hockey Club will be seeking to bounce back from their 4-2 weekend loss to Sikh Union when they take on Parkroad Tigers in a Super League match on Wednesday.

Team manager Victor Bogonko has attributed the season opener loss to the absence of some of his dependable players in the match, a reason he says played a major part in the team’s relegation to the second-tier league from the premier league last season.

“We have acquired three young goalkeepers from Meru School, Machakos University and another one from Technical University of Kenya in a bid to strengthen our team for this season,” said Bogonko.

Also, in a bid to address the challenge of shortage of players in his team, Bogonko reveals that they are in the process of setting up a junior team that will also act as a feeder to the senior team.

Bogonko has also appealed to well wishers to come on board and support the team which is currently without head coach and also struggling to acquire kits and to cater for match expenditures.

In the sole mid-week fixture that kicks off at 6pm in City Park, Bogonko said his charges will not underrate Tigers despite being the favourites on paper.
