Pay up or we down tools, Leopards players issue strike ultimatum

Trouble is looming at AFC Leopards after the playing unit issued a five- day ultimatum to the national executive committee to pay their allowances in full failure to which they will not honour the FKF-Shield semi final match against Sofapaka set for Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

A source who spoke to Citizen Digital on condition of anonymity said that the players are demanding full payment of their allowances failure to which they’ll down their tools.

The players, Citizen Digital understand haven’t been paid allowances accrued from nine games.

“Players haven’t been paid anything in the name of allowances despite winning nine league matches,” the source said.

“The players are not happy; they are grown ups and have their rights too .They are simply asking of what belongs to them,” he added.

Leopards have a pending league match against Kariobangi Sharks tomorrow at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, with the players due to report to camp in Limuru today afternoon.

Efforts to reach the executive were futile with no one shedding light on the matter.

The allowance saga at Leopards comes barely days after Gor Mahia players’ downed tools in protest over delay in remitting their August salaries.

Gor’s deputy secretary general told our sister station Ramogi FM that the delay due to logistical issues.
