The tournament entered its third day on Monday at the Abuja National Stadium, Nigeria with Telkom silencing the hosts to continue their 100 percent record.

Courtesy of their treble victories, the Kenyan champions lead the standings with nine points after defeating Ghana Police 2-1 in their opening match before thumping compatriots United States International University-Africa (USIU-A)4-0 on Sunday.

At the Abuja National Stadium, Tracy Karanja opened Telkom’s goal account before Jacqueline Wangeci doubled the lead.

Barbara Simiyu added the third before Jacqueline Wangeci claimed her brace in the 55th minute while the hosts got their consolation through Esther Bollo in the 52nd minute.

Telkom head coach Jos Openda said they are concentrating on reaching the finals but bemoaned the scorching climatic conditions in Nigeria.

“We are targeting to get into the finals and thereafter win convincingly because we want to come back with the title. The girls are pushing hard despite the fact that the conditions here are not friendly due to the hot sun we are experiencing here,” Openda told Citizen Digital on phone from Nigeria.

For USIU, the wait for a maiden will still stretch a little longer after falling to defending champions Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) 1-0 in their third game.

The students, making their debut in the continental stage have a point which they earned on Saturday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Delta Queens.

After a Tuesday rest, action resume on Wednesday with Telkom taking on Kada Queens as USIU confront Ghana Police.
