PHOTOS: Eliud Kipchoge Leads Kenyas Podium Sweep at London Marathon

Kipsang, who was last year’s winner, finished the race with a time of 2:04:47 setting a record as the fastest second place finish in London’s history. Another Kenyan, Dennis Kimetto, came third with a time of 2:05:50.

In the women’s race, Tigist Tufa came first with a time of 2:23:21 ahead of Kenya’s Mary Keitany who was second clocking 2:23:40, just a second ahead of another Ethiopian Tirfi Tsegaye who finished third.

Keitany’s defeat today ends Kenya’s four-year dominance at the Women's London Marathon. Keitany won the London Marathon in 2011 and 2012.

In the men's wheelchair race, Britain's six-time winner David Weir finished second after he lost out in a sprint finish to American Joshua George.
