Gor Mahia FC jetted out of the country on Wednesday morning for Abuja ahead of their CAF Champions League return match against Lobi Stars on Saturday.

The contingent of 26 endured a one-hour flight delay before leaving at 9.45am aboard Kenya Airways to Accra, Ghana from where they’ll connect to the Nigerian capital.

Gor carry a healthy 3-1 advantage from the first leg meeting in Nairobi last weekend and need a draw of any  kind to romp to the money spinning group stages where  a staggering KSh56 million lie in wait for the aggregate winner of the two  leg clash.

A total eight officials accompanied the playing unit that includes goalkeepers Boniface Oluoch and Fredrick Odhiambo.

Others are Boniface Omondi, Francis Kahata, Francis Mustapha, Haron Shakava, Joash Onyango, Shafique Batambuze, Philemon Otieno, Kenneth Muguna, Erissa Ssekisambu, George Odhiambo, Cercidy Okeyo, Pascal Ogweno,Humphrey Mieno, Samwel Onyango, Jacques Tuyisenge,  and Wellington Ochieng.

Team Manager Jolawi Obondo, club CEO Lordvic Aduda, coach Hassan Oktay and his assistant Zedekiah Otieno alongside goalkeeper trainer Willis Ochieng are among the officials.

Also in the list is team doctor Willis Ochieng. Others include Gerfas Okuku and Kelvin Elegwa.

Should Gor Mahia go beyond this stage, they will make history as the first Kenyan team to reach the group stages of the tournament.

On Tuesday, Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier warned the team against any sort of casual approach to the clash as he urged them to see out the tie.

“A game of football is determined in 90 minutes. I have told my boys ensure they put a lot of seriousness throughout the 90 minutes,’’ Rachier said.
