The County of Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero gave the Local Organising Committee (LOC) a stamp of approval as he expressed his satisfaction with their progress ahead of the IAAF World Youth Championships slated for July 12-16.

Dr. Kidero was taken round Moi International Sports Stadium, Kasarani – the venue for the global showpiece as he also toured the Athletes’ Village at the Kenyatta University (KU).

“We received the flag in 2015 in Colombia to host the event and as a county we appreciate the work going on over here. I hope everything will be ready in time including the stadium and any other facilities’ that need to be upgraded. The Nairobi County government will give you all the support you need,” Kidero who was accompanied by LOC Chairman Mwangi Muthee said.

Speaking at the Nyayo 5 hostels within the KU compound, the Project Manager and contractor Jack Njaramba assured Dr. Kidero that the facility will be complete by end of April.
