Pipelines Chepchumba named best attacker at CAVB Championship

Fast-rising Malkia Strikers and Kenya Pipeline left-attacker Sharon Chepchumba was on Monday evening feted as the best attacker at the CAVB Women’s Volleyball Championship which served out on Monday in Cairo, Egypt.

The Kwanthanze alumnus put a starring performance during the nine-day event helping her side win the bronze medal for the second year in a row after overcoming GSP of Algeria by straight sets in the third place play-offs.

The 2017 national and East Africa School Games Most Valuable Player was poached by the Oilers from their arch-rivals Kenya Prisons at the start of this year and was among five new players who joined the Margret Indakhala coached side after former head coach Japheth Munala led exodus of six players to KCB.

Meanwhile, Kenya Volleyball Federation men league champions General Service Unit (GSU) will jet out on Wednesday for African Men’s Championship set for Egypt from March 30 to April 11 at the Ahly Club Hall.

The other Kenyan representative Kenya Prisons are scheduled to fly out for the annual competition on Saturday evening.
