Please, have faith in us, Ndiku tells Kenyans ahead of race final

Commonwealth Games 3,000 metres steeplechase defending champion Jonathan Muia Ndiku has called on Kenyans to have confidence in their ability in the Club Games despite worries of a poor performance at the ongoing competition in Gold Coast, Australia.

Ndiku who is set to take part in the 10,000m final on Friday afternoon believes that more gold will be coming Kenya’s way.

“Don’t worry.We have only done a quarter. Please, Kenyans relax; we still have 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase for men, 5,000m for women, our race, 10,000m and also the marathon. The three quarters remaining we are going to prove everyone wrong,”Ndiku told Citizen Digital  in Gold Coast.

Ndiku who won the 3,000m SC title in Glasgow in 2014 before switching to long distance will team up with Josepaht  Bett and Rodgers Kwemoi, in the final set for 12:10 pm Kenyan time.

“I will put all my effort to make sure that I am among those leading when we the bell is sounded then leave the rest to God,” Said Bett, the 2014 10,000m silver medallist.

Ndiku who has a best time of 27:11.23 set in November 2016 in Japan, says the switch from steeplechase to 10,000m has been easy and expects to bag the gold medal for Team Kenya.

“It wasn’t difficult because when I was running the steeplechase I used to train for 5,000m and 10,000m.We did not have facilities at our school for steeplechase .Kenya will also take part in the women’s 800m final and the 3,000m final.
