In Summary

  • Coach Pollack says it is quite difficult to predict the outcome of today’s match to be staged in Kisumu beginning 3pm, but is optimistic his boys will get the desired result.

Defending champions Gor Mahia will be out to reclaim leadership of the league when they take on Sofapaka at Moi Stadium in Kisumu in one of their matches at hand and coach Steven Pollack is eager to get the maximum points.

Victory will see K’Ogalo leapfrog Kakamega Homeboyz at the top of the KPL standings to haul their points tally to 41, two more than Homeboyz.

Coach Pollack says it is quite difficult to predict the outcome of today’s match to be staged in Kisumu beginning 3pm, but is optimistic his boys will get the desired result.

The British coach says he will plan and perhaps know the direction of the match outcome the moment the play gets underway.

“It is not easy to predict today’s match but will read the game keenly the moment it is underway and from there I will be able to predict the final outcome,”he said.

From Pollack’s comments, it’s obvious that Ghanaian striker John Owusu could get a starting role while 2018/2019 Ugandan League top scorer Juma Balinya could start from the bench.

” I have known Owusu for many years and I know what he is capable of doing for Gor, but Balinya is a new player to me and I am keen to establish what he can do for us,”added Pollack.

Ugandan Balinya Juma and Afghani John Owusu were absorbed by the record  Kenya champions mid-season to fill the goal poaching gaps left by Ivorian Yikpe and Ghanaian Francis Afriyie who decamped to Tanzania and Botswana respectively.

Meanwhile Mathare United is seeking to get its second consecutive away win when they play guests to 12th placed  Kericho side Zoo FC this afternoon in the only other KPL match on the cards.

Currently sitting 10th on 24 points, Salim Ali’s men, who, like Gor, have two matches in hand, will be seeking to surpass Sofapaka, in the hope that the ‘”Batoto ba Mungu’’ fall to Gor today.

The Slum Boys are expected to have the services of young  fullback Swaleh Chacha, signed on a one-year loan deal from Bandari.

Forward Dani Lual who impressed in their last outing against Kariobangi Sharks is also expected to be on the starting lineup.
