Pollack committed to Gor cause despite financial turmoil

Gor Mahia head coach Steve Pollack says he is committed to the club’s cause and will be looking forward to winning more titles with the club next season despite the financial turmoil.

The record league champions are facing financial challenges with the players going for five months without pay raising questions on the future of some star players and the technical bench but the Finnish tactician is determined to see out his contract.

“I still have one year on my contract and I am determined to see it through as long as the club wants me to stay.  It’s true there are financial challenges the club is facing but the good thing is the presence of good will from the management to ensure the situation is resolved,”said Pollack.

Club vice-captain Joash Onyango’s contract comes to an end in December and the coach has confirmed they are holding talks with the dependable defender to see him extend his stay at the club.

“He is key member of the squad; he is our leader on the pitch and we are determined to keep the best for the club.  He (Joash) has held talks with the club leadership and hopefully they will come to an agreement soon,”confirmed the coach.

Pollack also said that the injured duo of Philemon Otieno and Willington Ochieng who both suffered knee injuries are recovering well and are expected to be in action once the league resumes.

He said: “I have seen the videos of Wellington training hard and that’s good news to the team. We are praying that there is no setback and he will be part of the team when the season resumes.”
