Gor Mahia head coach Steve Pollack is confident the club will find the ‘perfect’ replacements for the players who have left the club before the start of the new season.

Speaking to Citizen Digital after the signing of Ugandan international Tito Okello, Pollack said he has spoken to the management and told them the importance of keeping key players and the areas he feels they need to strengthen ahead of the new season.

“I really don’t know much about the player until I watch him in training, so I can’t really comment much about him but what I have been told is that he’s got great quality that will add value to our midfield in the coming years.

Gor is a big club with a huge fan base in the country and they are very demanding when it comes to delivering results on the pitch so we have to make quality signings who will make the fans love watching their team because of good results and the style of football that is attractive in their eyes,” he said.

The Finnish tactician also spoke of the importance of keeping star players in order for them to be competitive in continental football.

“Any team that has won continental titles has always begun with a project that takes a minimum of three years. The key in them has always been consistency meaning they keep the players together for some time and only add quality when necessary.

It has happened with Liverpool, Man City, Bayern Munich, and even Barcelona. Forr us to go far in continental football we have to be patient with projects and if we do that in the next three years we will be taking about a different sorry,” he told Citizen Digital.

The 18-time league champions have already lost goalie Fred Odhiambo and winger Boniface Omondi who have crossed over to Wazito FC, defensive kingpin Joash Onyango who  decamped to Simba SC while skipper Kenneth Muguna and defender Charles Momanyi are still  reportedly stalling on new contracts.
