Poor end as Starlets lose to Zambia in third-place fight

Harambee Starlets ended their campaign in the COSAFA Women Championships in Zimbabwe on wrong footing losing 4-2 to Zambia on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The defeat saw them finish their campaign at position four, missing out on the top three brackets.

The home queens led to the break courtesy of a 30th minute strike by deadly attacker Neddy Atieno.

A lapse in defence made Zambia level the scores in the 72nd minute through Barbra Banda, to send the match into post-match penalties where the Starlets missed failed to prevail missing two spot-kicks as Zambia prevailed.
