Poor Kenya crash out of tourney

The Kenya men volleyball team crashed out of the African Nation Volleyball championship after losing by three straight sets to giants Tunisia at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex.

Having lost 3-0 to Ghana in their opening match on Sunday, the Kenyans needed to win against the north Africans to have any realistic chance of progressing in the competition but their  dreams went up in smoke after they failed to hold their own against Tunisia.

Kenya lost 25-16, 25-19, 25-22, to jeopardize their chances of qualifying from the group.

Tunisia tops the group with 5 points, followed by Ghana on 4, Libya with 3, and Kenya at rock bottom with no point.

With two losses on the trot, the Moses Epoloto coached side will now aim at winning their last group B match against a strong Libya to save face

In other results, group D favorites Algeria whitewashed Chad 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-19, as Botswana lost 3-0 (19-25, 18-25, 17-25) to Rwanda.

In group C, Morocco lost 1-3 (26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 19-25) to Cameroon, while in group A, hosts Egypt will face off with DR Congo.

Top two teams from each pool qualify for the quarter finals whereas bottom two sides will battle for 9th-14th places.
