Portugal, Spain confirmed for Safari Sevens

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) on Tuesday has named the seven teams that will compete in Nairobi Safari Sevens alongside two Kenya sevens teams.

According to KRU, the seven teams include; Spain, Portugal, Samurai Rugby, University of Jo’burg, Uganda Cranes, Red Wailers and Apache Sevens with Shujaa and Morans are the local teams that have made the list.

Safari Sevens is making a return after a year break after the organisers called off last year due to occurrence of election in the country.

This year’s edition was officially launched in August with KRU announcing a list of international teams that had been invited to feature in the tournament.

Kenya sevens will be using the tournament as preparation for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2019 which will kick off in Dubai on 30-1 December, 2018, then proceed to Cape Town, South Africa on December 8-9 , 2018.

Kenya sevens  are the Safari sevens defending champions courtesy of their win in 2016 where they beat Samurai 38-21 at Kasarani Stadium.

Seven teams have so far confirmed their participation in this year’s Safari Sevens set for November 9-11 in Nairobi, Kenya.
