Posta Rangers seeks to maintain KPL status

Posta Rangers are only a match away from retaining their top-flight status in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) as they take on Nairobi Stima in the second leg encounter to be played in Machakos on Wednesday.

Veteran defender Jockins Atudo and Francis Nambute found the target to hand Posta Rangers an advantage following their 2-1 win over National Super League(NSL) side Stima in KPL playoff first leg promotion match at the Karuturi Sports Ground.

The power men come into the encounter seeking to become the first NSL side to earn promotion to the Kenyan Premier League through the playoffs.

The John Kamau coached side Rangers will be looking to prolong their three-year stay in the KPL.

Kamau hailed his side for the tactical display and composure adding he was confident his boys will still carry the day tomorrow.

“My boys are in good form and we are hoping to perform well tomorrow; I am not taking any chance, I have instructed them to go for a win, nothing less,” Kamau said.

However, an elated Nairobi Stima coach Evans Mafuta admitted that his boys gave the best but only lost to an experienced and well-prepared side.

A loss for the Power men will leave them with no choice but to play in the second-tier league.
