Prisons surrender to Egypts Sham in Tunisia

Former champions, Kenya Prisons were jolted back to reality on Monday when they lost their third 2016 Women’s African Club Championship game 1-3 to El Shams of Egypt after emphatically opening their campaign with two victories on the bounce in Tunis, Tunisia.

Shams took the first two sets 25-18 and 25-11 before the Kenyans rallied to take the third 25-19 but any hopes of staging a comeback dissipated when they went down 20-25 in the fourth. The Egyptians registered their third straight victory in their pool.

Prisons Played well but made mistakes in attack and reception in the first and second sets which laid the platform of the defeat after beating Cameroon side Injis then South Jos of Nigeria in their opening two group encounters.

They also failed to get more points from blocking but are still determined to qualify for the quarters after Tuesday’s match against Ndelle Energie from Gabon.

“We played our match very well though we lost to El Shams of Egypt. I think the girls did their best though our best was not good enough. We made so many unforced errors but it is still a learning process especially for the young girls who did a lot of things,” head coach, David Lung’aho

“Lilian Lelei who just came from school played well, she helped to score many points, Ann Lowem and Yvonne Wavinya they all did their level best. El Shams is experienced but the most important thing for us is to confirm that we are qualifying for the quarter finals and then we plan from there,” the tactician added.
