Purse strings loosened as Gor capture transfer targets

Gor Mahia FC have got their transfer business off and running with multiple signings ahead of a busy 2018 season for the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions.

Gor who were a class above the rest this term, finishing their campaign a yawning 21 points clear of their closest challenger, have already made four new signings as they look to bolster their squad for the CAF Champions League.

Ulinzi Stars winger Samuel Onyango, Sofapaka defender Wesley Onguso and Western Stima center half Maurice Ojwang have all agreed deals with the record KPL champions, according to Citizen Digital sources.

The K’Ogalo are also set to add an Ivory Coast striker to their star-studded attacking force while midfielder Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza has been sold off to 13-time Rwandan champions Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR).

Mugiraneza who only signed this year played a bit-part role in Gor’s title-winning campaign having failed to lock down a starting place against a packed midfield as Kenneth Muguna, Francis Kahata, George Odhiambo and Ernest Wendo the preferred combination.

Onyango will be a devastating loss for four-time winners Ulinzi have already parted ways with their top scorer this season Stephen Waruru.

The pacey winger will add more attacking threat from the flanks, where Gor lacked last season as their star forwards Jacques Tuyisenge and Meddie Kagere often forced to drift wide to collect the ball.

Onguso and Ojwang will contest for places against skipper Musa Mohammed and Harun Shakava who were virtually unchallenged for starting places last term.
