Rachier earns fresh mandate at the helm of Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia’s electoral board has declared incumbent Ambrose Rachier the club chairman earning a fresh four-year mandate after he attracted no challenger for the seat.

The club elections are penciled for August 8 and Rachier who has served at the helm of the club for 12 years is having it easy as no one is challenging his leadership.

Also sailing smoothly is Samuel Mathews Ocholla Kwenda who is poised to be the new club secretary general after attracting no competitor.

“Since only one candidate each, submitted their application for the position of Chairman and Secretary General, the Board takes this opportunity to declare the Chairman – Ambrose Otieno Rachier and Secretary General Samuel Mtahews Ochola elected unopposed,”  electoral board chairman Henry Ogoye Koweru said in a statement.

The Board made the announcement in a statement on Saturday following the expiry of the deadline for candidates to submit their applications. The deadline lapsed Friday July 17 2020.

The turn of events means that only the Vice-Chairman’s position and that of Honorary Treasurer, will be contested.

Incumbent  Francis Erick Wasuna faces a challenge from former treasurer Sally Bolo for the seat while  Dolfina Achieng Odhiambo and Chrispine Omoga Okoth will slug it out for the Treasurer’s seat.

Gor, in its new constitution, reduced the number of executive seats to four, with the clause requiring all contestants to have a university degree probably having knocked out several interested persons.
