Rachier refutes claims club treasurer Dolphine was detained in Algeria over hotel bill

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has scoffed at reports that club treasurer Dolphine Odhiambo was detained in  Algeria over unpaid hotel bills.

Rachier claims the flight departed Algiers when Dolphine was ”still settling hotel bills” and it became difficult for her to catch another flight immediately following restrictions on the Algerian airspace as the government tries to contain the second Covid-19 wave.

‘’Dolphine was left behind settling bills and the next available flight to Nairobi was in two days’ time. She was not detained since we had enough money to cater for our bills,’’ explained Rachier.

The chairman attributed the rumors to ”some media personalities” and former club officials whom he referred to as Gor Mahia haters.

He indicated that some personalities are working for the downfall of Gor Mahia for unknown reasons noting that if they had any problems settling bills, they would have gone public.

“They are just happy trying to embarrass the club. Normally when there is a problem we go public and seek support from various bodies. It was just a matter of time and we did not want to wait as a team because if we missed our flight, it would have been more expensive for us,” he said.

Reports had it that the club treasurer Dolphine Odhiambo had been detained in an Algerian hotel after Gor allegedly failed to pay all the bills.

K’Ogalo jetted back home early this week after an embarrassing outing in Algeria where they were thrashed 6-0 in the first leg of the first round of the CAF Champions League by CR Belouizdad with the second leg fixed for January 6 at Nyayo Stadium.

The team were due to resume training ahead of the return leg but the players are reportedly on go slow for non-payment of salaries.

The stand-in coach Sammy Omolo ‘Pamzo’  earlier on attributed their dismal performance to players go slow and indicated that in order for Gor to make an impression, the management needs to solve their welfare issues
