Rangers most offensive in KPL – Coach Pamzo

Posta Rangers Head Coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo on Wednesday claimed his charges are the most offensive minded despite having not scored more than one goal in any Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match this season.

Pamzo, who was on Wednesday named the Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month for April ignored his side’s standout defensive record and instead heaped praise on their exploits on the opposite end of the pitch.

The Rangers boast a league-best record of only three goals conceded but their nine goals in ten matches ranks nowhere near the KPL’s most prolific sides. With 17 goals, Ulinzi Stars have scored almost twice as much.

“I don’t think we’re defensive. In fact we’re one of the most offensive teams in the Premier League and the only thing is that the teams we play are very defensive. We have had dangerously close win margins and that what we want to improve on; we have to try and score a second goal,” Pamzo said.

The Rangers are the only unbeaten side in the division but sit second on 22 points, three points adrift leaders Gor Mahia FC. Ulinzi and champions Tusker FC are joint third on 21 points although Rangers have a game in hand.

“It’s not easy especially in KPL to be unbeaten at this moment and to be honest the players are working very hard. I am superbly excited but let me appreciate my players.

“I have really wonderful players and if it were not for them it couldn’t have been possible. These are players who play with passion and very spirited and you can just see what the league is saying.  I am really excited having the players,” the tactician, who previously won the league title with Tusker underscored.

Pamzo led Rangers through a remarkable streak in April that saw them rack up four wins in six matches – drawing the other two – en route to climbing up to the summit of the KPL.
