Referees unified national polls set for December 23

Football referees will hold their unified national elections on December 23 in an exercise that will be preceded by Sub-Branch and Branch polls on December 5.

Football Kenya Referees Electoral Board secretary, Irene Tindi rolled out the programme towards the elections in a press statement where registration of members of the Kenya Football Referees Association (Kefora) that kicked-off Monday concluding on November 8.

Nomination Forms will be obtained at the Board’s Secretariat at the FKF Goal Project offices in Kasarani Nairobi on Thursday and must be filled and returned on or before November 8.

Interested candidates will be required to submit a valid bank slip voucher of the nomination fees and must sign an election Code of Conduct.

Those vying for the positions of Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary General of the national office will be required to pay Kshs 50,000 with others posts in the National Executive Committee attracting a fee of Kshs 25,000.

Candidates for Branch and Sub-Branch positions will pay Kshs10,000 and Ksh 5000 with the money deposited in Football Kenya Federation (FKF)’s account.

The final day of receiving nomination forms for all the candidates will be on November 16 with the verification process of the voters’ register and vetting of aspirants commencing immediately thereafter.

FKF appointed the five-member Board headed by its chairman Herbert Mwachiro in August following a joint meeting with two factions each claiming to be bona fide Kefora officials.

The federation had earlier in that month suspended six match officials for 90 days for improper handling of Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches.

FIFA Referee Israel Mpaima and his colleague Zachariah Ashira, Assistants Oliver Ouma, Joshua Achila and Godfrey Ndeva as well as Match Commissioner Dominic Weda were sanctioned for poor officiating.
