Relegated sides KCB, All Stars face off in Super League

The National Super League is yet to adjust its fixtures to accommodate the reinstated Kisii side Shabana FC as last season’s relegated SportPesa Premier League sides KCB and Nakuru All Stars clash for the first time in the second tier this season.

Shabana were given a two-week ultimatum by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to pay affiliation fee and provide evidence of their financial capability to finish the season after the Sports Tribunal ruled in their favour.

The former local giants are seeking to close a sponsorship deal with a Kisii-based transport company to pave way for a return to the second-tier competition after their appeal to object federation’s decision to play in the National Division One after failing to honour the last two matches of last season’s FKF-Premier League was upheld.

On the pitch, the remaining 19 teams in the competition after West Sugar FC were expelled for missing five games in a row will play in the eighth round of the competition.

Besides the battle of the relegated SPL sides, Kariobangi Sharks will host the eighth placed Vihiga United in another saucy clash with the Slum Boys.

Micheal Amenga’s boys, who are doing fairly well having lost two of their seven matches, are expecting to take the scalp of the under pressure Vihiga on Saturday afternoon.

Nairobi based “The Planets” Ligi Ndogo, will be out to bury their misery from last weekend where they were forced to wait for an extra day to play bottom-placed Modern Coast Rangers when they visit Bidco FC.

Rangers could not provide a field for their match on the scheduled day forcing the game that ended in a barren draw to be played on Sunday.

The Mombasa-based strugglers will also be making the trip to St. Joseph.

Retailers Nakumatt FC, who are a point behind table-topping Zoo Kericho, visit Nairobi Stima hoping to leapfrog the leaders who will not play this weekend at the summit.

FC Talanta will try to disarm Police FC in a last match of Saturday after Palos host Agro Chemicals and Sugar Millers Nzoia United battle Wazito FC.
