Requiem service of legend Kadenge underway in Nairobi
The requiem mass of football legend Joe Kadenge is currently underway at the Friends International Centre Church along Ngong Road in Nairobi.
Kadenge who offered distinguished service to Kenyan football as a player and later team manager of the national football team, Harambee Stars, died 10 days ago at a Nairobi hospital aged 84 after a long illness.
Present at the service are ODM leader Raila Odinga, Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula, Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris and a host of other leaders.
Coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee, former custodian Mohamed Abbas, JJ Masiga and a host of ex-internationals as well as current footballers, are also in attendance.
Yesterday Raila led the Kadenge’s family, friends and politicians to a fundraiser at Charter Hall in Nairobi where over Sh4.5million was raised towards offsetting funeral expenses.
Kadenge’s body will be airlifted to Bukhungu Stadium tomorrow ahead of burial ceremony set for Saturday in Gisambai, Hamisi constituency in Vihiga County.
