Revamped Gaspo ready for KWPL second round, says Maluki

Gaspo Women FC head coach Isaac Maluki believes his seven new players unveiled last month have fully gelled with the rest in the team, hoping they will be pivotal in his hunt for the top two positions in the Premier League this season.

After the first round of the league which ended two weeks ago, the club is placed third in Zone A with 13 points, two behind second placed Ulinzi Starlets with Thika Queens topping the table with 21 points.

Maluki says their first round run was fair but the gaps they needed to fill for a more productive second round are done, with the arrival of the seven ahead of the March 6 kick-off.

“After playing a number of matches I have seen them improve a lot. They now play as a team with the rest and I hope they will assist in fulfilling our dream of finishing among top two clubs at the peak of the season,” said Maluki.

Former Kisumu Starlets duo Mercy Airo and Laventine Khaemba, Stellah Liseche (Kibera Girls), Diana Wacera (Mathare United Women), and Rhoda Wafula who was roped in from Ibinzo Girls School are part of Maluki’s new faces.

Shajani Unizer who formerly featured for English second tier side Barnsley United is another key addition the coach is counting on for a better second round.

In the current campaign, Gaspo have so far registered four wins, a draw and two losses.

In Zone B Vihiga Queens tops with 19 points while Trans Nzoia Falcons and Wadadia occupy second and third positions respectively with 13 points each.

Nakuru Queens FC and Kisumu All Starlets complete the top five with 11 points apiece.
