Rising Nzoia Sugar declare title interest

Nzoia Sugar FC has fired a salvo to potential title contenders to brace for a fierce battle.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nzoia Sugar tactician Collins Omondi said his boys are in high spirits and the team is focussed on winning their matches.

“At the moment we are focussed on winning matches both at home and away, no room for error, we want to move to the top, an the boys are very promising,” charged Omondi.

The Sudi based outfit produced the highlight match in round six of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) at the weekend beating Batoto ba Mungu 2-1 in a thrilling encounter at Sudi Stadium.

Both teams started their encounter with much intent, trading some end to end action in Bungoma but Sofapaka took an early lead after Brian Nyakan fired past Hamprey Katasi seven minutes into the game.

A brace from Collins Wahungu was enough to silence Batoto ba Mungu and propel Nzoia to 12th position on the log with seven points from six matches.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka tactician Divaldo Alves has lauded Nzoia for a superb performance adding they deserved to win.
Alves has promised fans an improved performance in yet another weekend fixture when they host AFC Leopards.

“The league has gained momentum and we need to keep fighting, I want to assure fans that we are going to perform well against Ingwe at home,” he said.
