Ronaldo I see traits of myself in Marcus Rashford

Legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo has revealed he sees traits in Manchester United teenager Marcus Rashford that he possessed in the early years of his career.

Speaking to ​SunSport, Ronaldo gave the breakout star the highest of praise by comparing Rashford’s abilities to the ones that shot him to the peak of the game in the 1990’s.

Ronaldo, who played for the likes of Barcelona, Inter, Real Madrid and AC Milan in his storied career, says Rashford’s speed and ability with the ball has made him stand out.

Ronaldo believes the English youngster has a very bright future ahead of him and he thinks Rashford has the hunger to take him to the very top of his profession.

The 39-year-old said: “He’s a very good young player. I see some of myself in him for sure – he has courage and he’s fast and is very good with the ball.

“I think for the strikers they have to be hungry to score and I see that with him. He has an amazing future.”

Rashford has already been tipped to win a place in the England squad in the future, though he will likely have to wait until after Euro 2016 to make his mark at international level.

Ronaldo though feels England are the favourites to win the entire competition in France.

He said: “In the qualifiers they had 10 matches and 10 victories. I think England are the favourites to win. You have the best qualifying performance.

“I would love to see England win. In England people love football so much, you deserve to win with the national team.”
