Ronaldo to miss clash with Barca having tested positive again

Cristiano Ronaldo will miss his reunion with Lionel Messi after another positive Covid-19 test ruled him out of Juventus’ Champions League match against Barcelona.

Ronaldo has been self-isolating since he tested positive while on international duty with Portugal on October 13.

He returned another positive result last week, but underwent further testing in a bid to prove his fitness ahead of Juventus’ blockbuster tie against Barcelona tonight.

Ronaldo last played in Portugal’s 0-0 draw with France on 11 October.

Juventus will definitely be without defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt, while Leonardo Bonucci and Paulo Dybala will both be assessed for the game in Turin.

The 1995-96 Champions League champions beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in their opening game of this year’s group stage.

Their opponents Barcelona are set to be without midfielder Philippe Coutinho, after the ex-Liverpool player injured his left hamstring in Saturday’s 3-1 El Clasico defeat against Real Madrid.

The length of the 28-year-old’s absence will “depend on how the injury evolves”, according to Barca.

Barcelona beat Ferencvaros 5-1 in their opening group match.
