SA crush Lionesses in World Cup qualifier

Kenya Lionesses missed out on a direct ticket for the women’s Rugby World Cup after they were whitewashed 39-00 by South Africa who were crowned the new champions of the 2019 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup.

Playing at the Bosman Stadium in Johannesburg the host scored seven tries converting two.

They scored their tries through Zintle Mpupha, Lindelwa Gwala, Tayla Kinsey, Rights Mkhari, Mathrin Simmers, Aseza Hele and Snenhlanha Shozi with Kinsey adding the extras.

Felix Oloo charges will now feature in a play-off match against a selected team from South America with the winner competing in a 4-team global repechage tournament in 2020.

Kenya reached the finals after whitewashing Madagascar and Uganda 35-5 and 37-5 respectively while South Africa outshined Uganda 89-5 and Madagascar 73.
