Safaricom Chapa Dimba back with La Liga flair

The second edition of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament resumes on Saturday with a series of matches lined up in Kakamega, Busia, and Vihiga counties.

This stakes are higher this season organisers having struck a partnership with La Liga that will see Spanish coaches scout for talented boys and girls to feature in an all-star team.

The tournament targets talented youth aged between 16 to 20 years with an aim of developing grassroots football and propelling gifted players into the national limelight.

The inaugural edition of the tournament saw over 1,500 teams which took part in the tournament whose final was held at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Kapenguria Heroes from Rift Valley won the male finals and Plateau Queens from Nyanza won the female where they paid a five day trip to London, the capital of the United Kingdom.

Kapenguria Heroes emerged champions after a 3-0 win in post-match penalties over Gor Mahia Youth in the first edition which ended on 25th March 2018.

The top regional teams will qualify for the Chapa Dimba national finals slated for May 23 next year where the winners in both the men and women categories will walk away with KES 1 Million.
