Sanchez double gives Arsenal magical win over United
Arsenal gave a stunning performance to thrash Manchester United 3-0 in a premier league match played at the Emirates on Sunday.
Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring in the 6th minute with Mesut Ozil adding the second a minute later to throw the game in Arsenal’s advantage.
Sanchez then belted a third to all-but finish the contest with barely 20 minutes played.
Petr Cech made a big stop from Anthony Martial right on half-time and United did improve after the break, but that was as much down to Arsenal re-evaluating their ambition as anything else, and three times counter-attacks almost brought a fourth goal.
The result leaves Arsenal two points behind Manchester City, the margin of victory enough to take them above United into second place.
In the Dutch league, PSV Eindhoven corrected their stuttering start to the Eredivisie season with a 2-1 victory at league leaders Ajax.
The visitors opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Gaston Pereiro weaved his way through the home defence and rifled a shot into the top of the net.
Ajax were level just three minutes later however, with Amin Younes curling home from inside the box.
PSV were the more dominant side in the second half, eventually breaking the Ajax defence for what turned out to be the winner – Pereiro netting his second in the 79th minute.
It’s the second straight season PSV have come to the Amsterdam Arena and gone back with all three points.
