Shabana FC finally break NSL duck on 14th attempt

The longest winless streak in the 2016 Nationwide Super League (NSL) was finally broken on Wednesday when Shabana FC dug deep to emerge with a 2-1 victory with visiting Nairobi Stima in their adopted home of the Awendo Green Stadium.

It has taken the Gusii based giants who once used to roar in the top flight more than 52.5 hours or 1260 minutes of football in their belated start to their second tier campaign to taste victory and in the process, easing their relegation fears.

The win doubled Shabana’s points tally to six, leaving them only four adrift of FC Talanta who occupy the last position to avoid the drop having played three games less to ignite the hopes the grand club has of avoiding further ignominy by dropping to the third tier.

Stima, remain stuck in 11 on 22 points after goals in each half from Hamisi Hadi and former AFC Leopards ace, Demonde Selenga settled the contest.

On Saturday, Shabana face league leaders Nakumatt FC bouyed they can haul themselves out of trouble following an encouraging run in the second leg where they have won one, drawn twice and lost once.
