Shabana keen to maintain winning streak

Shabana FC Team Manager Elijah Sani is optimistic his team will maintain their upward trajectory on the National Super League (NSL) standings after they defeated Vihiga Bullets 2-1 on Sunday.

The glamour boys’ impressive run away from home has seen them climb to the seventh position, three points adrift of the league leaders.

Sani says their objective is to finish in the first three positions come the end of the season.

“The players were very focused on Sunday and their performance backs this conclusion. “The objective of this team is to qualify for the top tier league and performances like this can push us closer to realizing this dream,” he told Citizen Digital.

The team relies heavily on the blend of young prospects and the experienced core having done numerous rotations so far into the season.

Sani is confident the level of competitiveness makes the team the most potent side in the league this season.

“Our emphasis is that the coach should count on every player in the roster because they all represent us.

“If you look at how our squad has been deployed this season you will realize that no player is guaranteed of a starting spot and that spices up the competition since everyone knows they can start if they prove to the manager that they can do it.”

The Gusii Stadium based side will host Murang’a Seal on Sunday as they hope to extend their winning run.

However, the FC Talanta could reclaim their lead if they overcome Kibera Black Stars in their Monday afternoon fixture.
